Two European football heavyweights Real
Madrid FC and Manchester United FC will today square off in the Spanish capital
in a champions league game which has captured the imagination of a global
sporting audience.
Real Madrid are said to be the most
successful side in the history of the European Cup, however, they have not
lifted the trophy for 11 years now.
Jose Mourinho's men have been forced
to make the Champions League their top priority this season, as the La Liga
title is now out of their reach.
In contrast, our dear Man U are heading
into this midweek action 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League table
and unbeaten in all competitions since 5th December - a 14-match unbeaten run.
This two-legged knockout tie is a big occasion for both Real Madrid and
Manchester United, with a managerial duel between Mourinho and Sir Alex
Fergsuon.
This will be Cristiano Ronaldo's
first outing against Man U since leaving England for Santiago Bernabeu in 2009
providing intriguing subplots.
Paul Scholes' vast experience will
be missing from Manchester United's midfield due to a knee injury.
