points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Barclays Premier League 2012/13.

Rooney’s goal came from Ferdinand’s ability to read a McAnuff pass and stride
upfield. Rio beat a man and taped the ball inside for Wayne Rooney who volleyed
from just inside the area. A deflection off Pearce took the ball over Taylor dips
under the bar.
